LNG Dispenser
Chart LNG Dispensers allow for safe and reliable dispensing of LNG into the vehicle tank.  The dispensers are housed in standard gasoline style dispenser units, making them aesthetically suitable for a wide range of installations, including island mounting.

Basic Construction
The Chart LNG Dispenser is designed for fueling LNG powered vehicles at rates exceeding 120 liters per minute. The dispenser uses the dry-hose method for measuring and is able to accurately measure small batches of product dispensed. Due to its unique construction, no cool-down delays occur prior to fueling. The LNG dispenser is accessible from both sides and the back for ease of maintenance. Each dispenser is equipped with flexible, durable and lightweight dispensing and vent hoses. The vent hose is equipped with a female Macro Technologies fitting (MVE vent connection).

Easy to Operate
Chart dispensers are very simple to operate. Simply push the green start button to begin the fully automated fueling process. Each dispenser is equipped with a large, easy to read LCD display. the display gives price per unit, units dispensed and total amount of sale.

•    Stainless steel construction
•    Relief valves and gas purge lines are plumbed safely to station vent stack
•    Vapor return vented to vent stack for efficient vapor management
•    Vent and dispenser hoses equipped with breakaways designed to prevent damage to dispenser in the event of a drive away
•    Standard E-Stop (Emergency Stop) button for use in the event of emergencies
•    Aesthetically pleasing design (similar to gasoline station pumps)
•    Automatic push button controls
Easy operation, user friendly control

Chart’s patented LNG dispenser can be used legally for public access dispensing of LNG. The dispenser allows for accurate measurement of small volumes of LNG of varying composition to be transferred to small cryogenic storage vessels, such as Chart’s onboard vehicle tanks.

A proven design with years of rigorous testing ensures the long-term reliability and stability of Chart’s Weights and Measures approved dispenser. The many safety features built into the dispenser combined with its automated fueling process provide for a safe and simple fueling operation. A high hose dispenser housing, similar to a standard gasoline dispenser, provides for easy installation adjacent to LNG storage or on separate fueling islands, and eliminates the need for clumsy hose reels and retractors.

LNG BULK TRANSPORT

LNG Delivery System
The model SR-603 LNG tank car is a DOT-113C120W tank car optimized for carrying maximum payloads of LNG.
It is also suitable for transporting liquid ethylene. It complies with all Association of American Railroads
(AAR) and US Department of Transportation (US DOT) regulations.

The model SR-603 is a stub sill tank car — the sills are integral to the outer tank, and the outer tank carries the significant rail loads from one end of the car to the other, as well as supporting the weight of the product and the inner tank. The inner tank is made of durable T-304 stainless steel. The outer tank is made of fine grain carbon steel. The inner tank typically rated at 75 psig.

Chart has a plan to offer 90 psig inner vessels for improved strength and hold time with no payload loss.
The model SR-603 has withstood the test of time and miles on North America’s railroads in liquid ethylene service.

Chart’s model SR-602 is volume optimized for LNG amid the constraints of railroad clearance (Plate ‘C’), Gross
Rail Load (GRL) and the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) 34,500 gallon limit for flammable products.
LNG capacity is ~30,680 gallons or up to 142,500 lbs of LNG.
(The composition, and thus the density, of LNG can vary 5—10%).

The control piping and instruments are located in spacious cabinets on each side of the car at the center. The functional piping is duplicated on each side; the safety devices are split — rupture discs on one side; safety relief valves on the other side. Cabinets, piping, valves and instruments are virtually all stainless steel for added durability.
Valves have fire resistant packing.
All routine operation and maintenance for the control piping and instrumentation is accessible from ground level.
The model SR-603 has a high capacity pressure building coil made with stainless steel piping
and aluminum fins for optimal durability and heat capacity.

SCOPE OF SUPPLY

Chart complies with all US DOT requirements in the design and construction of its SR-603 LNG tank cars.
We are certified as a Class ‘A’facility by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) to manufacture, repair, alter, convert or qualify tank cars. We are also certified by the AAR’s QA committee. Chart is registered with the DOT.
DOT requirements for transporting LNG are found in Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR), part 1 72.101, Table of Hazardous Materials and Special Provisions; part 173.319, Cryogenic Liquids in Tank Cars; and part 179.400, Specification for Cryogenic Liquid Tank Car Tanks.

LNG Semi-Trailer Highway Delivery System

LNG Delivery System
The model AT-506 transport is a vacuum-insulated, cryogenic semi-trailer designed specifically for transporting
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) over US highways. LNG can vary in its composition, but is usually at least 93%
methane. The model AT-506 exceeds the requirements of an MC-338 highway trailer.

The model AT-506 is a horizontal vacuum-insulated tank composed of an ‘inner’ pressure vessel and a structural frame/vacuum vessel ‘outer’jacket. The outer jacket is made from light weight, thin gage carbon and stainless steel, and the inner vessel is a 70 psig, ASME Code stamped pressure vessel made from light weight aluminum. Chart’s AT-500 series trailers are the time-tested, industry standard for LNG highway trailers in the US.

Chart’s model AT-506 offers the largest LNG capacity in the industry. With a gross volume of 13,000 gallons, payloads of up to 12,250 gallons may be obtained.1 A typical 80,000 pound GVW arrangement would have a 15,000 pound tractor, Chart’s 24,000 pound model AT-506 and would carry 41,000 pounds2 of LNG. With a lighter weight tractor, and/or where higher GVWs are allowed, the model AT-506 has the available capacity to carry additional payload.

The control piping and instruments are located in a spacious, wrap-around style, rear piping cabinet. Maximum use is made of the available space at the end of the trailer to make the control piping easy to operate, access and maintain. Use of a drop-down piping cabinet deck allows for waist-high connection of all three fill connectors (bottom fill/drain, alternate top fill and vapor return). The model AT-506 has a very large capacity pressure building coil, and coil piping, that allow off loading by pressure transfer at rates up to 300 GPM.

1 Based on US DOT fill density limits; 43,360 lbs of LNG = 12,250 gal @3.54 lbs/gal; 15 psig relief device setting.
2 11,582 gallons @3.54 lbs/gal

SCOPE OF SUPPLY

Chart complies with all US DOT requirements in the design and construction of its model AT-506 LNG trailer. We are registered with the DOT and employ Design Certifying Engineers and Registered Inspectors. DOT requirements for transporting LNG by highway are found in Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49CFR): part 1 72.101, Table of Hazardous Materials and Special Provisions; part 173.318, Cryogenic Liquids in Cargo Tanks; and part 178.338, Insulated Cargo Tank (MC-338). The inner vessel is designed to meet or exceed the requirements for an ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessel; the internal and external piping is in accordance with the requirements of ASME/ANSI B31.3 Piping Code; and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) are adhered to for all trailer automotive functions — running gear, lights, brakes, etc.
